What is your favourite...

....characteristic in a person? Something you think is vital for a person to have.

I don't mean a person of the opposite sex necessarily, I mean any person.

I don't know what mine is yet.

Trustworthiness, basically someone who won't lie to me about anything.

do what they say they will do! Nothing irritates me more when someone makes arrangements to do something and then forgets or is late.

consistency over time and situations. Shifty people and chameleonts are not nice, so if someone is consistent over time it means they are trustworthy imo. Even if that would be continously lying that's fine, at least I would know that that is what they did. If that makes any sense.

I like the other ones as well but if this doesn't exist I don't like the person.

Not superficial then?

Loyal is a main one for me. I tend to find honesty, love and being trustworthy are all rolled into one for that catergory.
Luckily I married a guy who possesses a lot of the qualities I love in a person (hey we've only been married 6 1/2 weeks I can still get mushy ) though I know his faults too which is always good to acknowledge in a person.

Sanity... that's probably the most important aspect of the human personality to me at the moment. Since that's a bit vague, I'll try to say what's ALSO, albeit less, important:

Truthful
Faithful
Kind

To me I like optimistic people, I cant stand moodiness & negativity, I dont mean being moody, as we all have those days, but moody people who moan about everything and bring you down. I avoid them where possible,
The ability to have a laugh is high on my list too...I love having a laugh

I so nearly said honesty... but there are times when the truth hurts more than a little white lie.

So i'll go for a sense of conscience.

idd - I think it's important to be honest about who you are and where you stand. Being honest in every single situation would create havoc. Allthough I do wish I could live in a world for about a week where I could say what was on my mind all the time. That would be excellent. I would also be very lonely and unemployed.

The ability to stand up for people who can't stand up for themsleves. Not really a vital characteristic though and so few people have it. A more vital one is to be able to admit when you have been wrong as everyone will be at some point and the honesty to do so often comes with being a decent person.

I think I'd like to revise mine... honour would be my choice i think.

That instinctive knowledge of when something is right or wrong, when you will do the "right thing" regardless of the personal cost.
