Whois problems at Network Solutions
Network Solutions have started blocking all whois queries from UK2, as of 10:50am today. This will affect the following customers:
a) Existing customers of UK2 who have domains registered with Network Solutions (old .com, .net or .org domains).
b) Prospective customers of UK2 who wish to move into our systems .com, .net or .org domains currently registered with Network Solutions.
This will not affect any customers who have either bought .com, .net or .org domains comparatively recently (e.g. in the last couple of years), or who have renewed domains recently (as a general rule - some exceptions may apply). If you registered your domain after September 1999 you're probably safe.
Network Solutions have apparently instituted a limit of the number of whois queries allowed from specific IP addresses - I say apparently because they have been so far unable to tell us what the limit is, or why it has been introduced. We are strongly considering a) retaliatory action, and b) a formal complaint to ICANN, as this is the worst sort of abuse of monopoly powers by one of the worst registrars in the business.
